Some People buy the cheapest thing for accesories and pay for it later... lets take a minute to talk about the different options you can go with on Accesories....

 

Golf Cart Lift Kits

It is true that lifting a cart can get expensive... If you use a Jakes Lift Kit and good tires on a 10 inch wheel your normally looking between 800-900 Bucks for that installed... shewwww... The lift itself is 300-400 dollars and thats just more than i want to put into my golf cart.. That i understand... But alternatives include cheap body lifts.. I am totally against these instead of lifting your cart up and out like a jakes spindle lift kit does it actually only lifts your cart straight up... this will significantly decrease your turning radius once you install larger tires... Secondly you dont increase your ground clearance with the lift only the tires.. I know on an Ezgo Golf Cart this is terrible because it leaves your front frame horrible exposed, not to mention it looks bad... Lastly and my biggest complaint is a body lift even though cheap makes your cart less stable... You may say will it tip over... Not so much but it does increase the chance of a roll over... but the problem is your going to go down the road like a bobble head doll because you have more height without more width... I strongly recomend that you bite the bullet and get the nicer Jakes or Comperable Lift Kit... and dont skip on the tire quality.. You'll pay for it later..

Golf Cart Tires

There is a major Difference here.. First off lets be honest a standard golf cart will go a lot of place but no anywhere... Some people think they have to lift there golf cart to get more aggresive tires for off roading... This is not true you cant get a standard size golf cart tire with knobbies that will fit on your golf cart... You can get these at most local stores that sell trailer tires and four wheeler tires... But i wouldnt use the square knob standard size tire in a situation where your using your golf cart on mainly hard surfaces because you will wear your knobbies down quickly... If your going to lift your golf cart then dont skimp on the tires your using.. I always recomend the Duro 22 inch all terrain tire with a 10 inch rim... Never heard of anyone having trouble with them.. They are usually 4 or 6 ply try to get the 6 ply if you can... There are cheaper lifted tires but buyers beware... There is a Square knobby that people use quite often... These tires are usually 2 Ply and are cheaper than there counterparts... Your talking about a tire that a thick blade of grass can cut threw... Maybe not totally true but over time especially on the 8 inch wheels you'll lose air a lot quicker and the rubber is softer so you will run the tread out of these in no time... Again i hate to keep saying this but dont skimp on your tire quality....

Golf Cart Wheel Covers or Aluminum Golf Cart Wheels

A tricky thing... most people like to bling out there golf cart with the latest in wheels whether it be aluminum golf cart wheels or chrome golf cart wheels.. Here is some stuff you need to know about Golf Cart Wheels and Wheel Covers...

Wheels are tough to keep clean especially the Chrome Ones.. The Chrome Wheels rust if you dont keep them shined or if your going to use them in a salty place like a beach or salt water lake... If you arent planning on cleaning then dont buy chrome wheels.. Aluminum Golf Cart Wheels are nice they dont need to be cleaned quite as often but still have to be kept clean to look nice... Golf Cart Wheel Covers are totally a different bird... They dont require a lot of cleaning because since they are clear coated they look nice even after running up and down a gravel road... There are different types of golf cart Wheel Covers watch out for the cheaper versions... There are wheel covers that dont cover the entire wheel and these will look bad leaving a line around them where you can see the wheel color... really makes them look bad.. Wheels run in different sizes and tired run in different sizes... A standard golf cart Tire is 18x8.5-8 the 18 in the size of the tire.. the 8 is the width of the tire... and the last 8 is the size of the wheel.. A lot of people ask can i get bigger wheels without lifting my golf cart. the answer is yes you can... There are three main sizes you can go with a 8 Inch Wheel, a 10 inch Wheel, and a 12 inch Wheel... They will all fit as long as your tire size is still 18x8.5.... They will not fit if you go with a tired that 20 inches or 22 inches without a lift kit... Even if you get the tire underneath the cart they will rub when your turning the wheels...
